The Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday (March 9) and saw a mix of familiar and new faces forming the new 2023-2024 Board of Directors, as well as two board volunteers retiring.
According to a press release, the Chamber board and staff are “extremely thankful to both Tom Osterberg – Lighthouse Realty, and Ellen Nguyen – What’s On! Mission Magazine for their selfless service and dedication to the organization and wish them both well as they move on to serving the community in other areas.”
Returning Chamber President, Manny Deol, spoke of the past year’s board with admiration, stating, “Although the year took us in different directions than we had planned, I am proud of what this board accomplished in setting a strong foundation on which to build moving forward.”
“The Chamber has an exciting year ahead. My goal this year is for us to talk less and do more, bringing more value to our membership,” added Deol.
He also expressed his belief that new MRCC Executive Director, Miriam Bozman, is an “action-taker” and he looks forward to working together with board and staff in the coming months.
Joining the board for the first time are Lucas McKinnon – Cameron James Menswear, and Stefany Tunshell – United Way, Cedar Valley Mission; each bringing with them a fresh perspective with professional expertise and excitement to serve the business community.
Re-elected to the board this year are Eleanor Christison – Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, Stephen Evans – Mission Community Skills Centre Society, Dawn Hein – Mission Association for Community Living, and Nicole Norden – Abstract Glass.
The Chamber executive was then accepted with Manny Deol as President, Celine Dauphney – Urban Valley Transport as Vice President, and Eleanor Christison – FVHCF as Treasurer.
