Veteran journalist Kevin Mills has been named the new editor of the Mission Record.

Black Press is pleased to announce that Kevin Mills has been appointed as the editor of the Mission Record.

Mills, a veteran journalist, began his career more than 25 years ago as a reporter at the Mission Record. Six months later, he was hired as a journalist for the Abbotsford News.

Mills spent the next 23 years at The News, learning every aspect of the industry from news, sports and arts coverage to business and local politics.

Mills left The News in 2013 to assume the role of editor at the Nelson Star, a Black Press community newspaper. Shortly after, he became editor of both the Star and the Castlegar News.

While Nelson is a beautiful and diverse city, Mills said he is happy to return to the Fraser Valley, especially to Mission where his career began.

“I’m excited to return to my roots,” said Mills. “My entire family lives in the Fraser Valley area.”

He is married with three sons and two grandchildren.

“I look forward to talking to the people of Mission to find out what issues are important to them.”

Andrew Holota, who has served as editor of The Record and the Abbotsford News since 2013, will continue to have a close, active role in the editorial direction of The Record as managing editor, and as part of his wider role as regional editorial manager for Black Press Lower Mainland.
