Mission resident passes chartered accountant evaluation

Nimrat Gill is latest to receive the national accounting designation.

Nimrat Gill has become the latest Mission resident to receive her chartered accountant (CA) designation.

Gill passed the three-day Uniform Evaluation (UFE) in Sept., which is a requirement for all Canadian-trained CAs.

Gill has worked in accounting with Deloitte Canada since Sept. 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business.

In order to become designated, students must complete rigorous course work, pass the UFE, and work for 30 months in an approved training office. The national UFE ensures all Canadian CAs meet the same high standards, which are recognized nationally and internationally.

“On behalf of the Institute’s Council, I would like to congratulate these students for successfully passing the UFE,” said Karen Christiansen, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC. “We welcome them to the ranks of BC’s professional accountants.”

Five Maple Ridge accounting students also passed the UFE that day. They are: Nissa Carmack, Sarah Goold, Scott Holst, Leigh-Ann Leibbrandt, and Benjamin McKay.

A total of 457 BC writers successfully completed the exam in Sept.
