The Mission Downtown Business Association has received three awards in five days – a District of Mission Community Service Award, a Community Service Award from the Government of Canada through MP Jati Sidhu, and a Best In The West Marketing Award from the Business Improvement Association of BC.

The two community service awards were presented to the MDBA for its work in celebrating Mission’s 125th birthday during Missionfest 2017.

They were given to executive director, Jamie Hayes, as well as the rest of the Mission 125 committee, during Mission’s annual Community Services Awards on April 19 at the Clarke Theatre.

Five days later, Hayes, along with MDBA president, Dr. Lyndon Balisky and vice-president, Carlo Billinger, also received an award at the Business Improvement Association of British Columbia annual conference in Kelowna on April 24.

The nomination was based on the 2017 marketing campaign Winter Window Decorating Contest, in partnership with The Mission Record.

A committee of BIABC members judged the submissions, and also gave awards to BIAs for events, sustainability and partnerships.
