Abbotsford Agrifair to return as in-person event for 2021

Event free from July 30 to Aug. 1, with limited tickets available

Abbotsford’s annual Agrifair will be held as a limited in-person event this year, fair manager Graham Vanstone announced Friday (July 9).

“Yes, we are changing gears and have so much in store for you. It is thrilling to be able to make this announcement, and we want to thank everyone for doing their part so we could get to this point,” he said.

The 2020 version of Agrifair was held as a drive-thru event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and organizers had previously announced that this year’s fair would also be a drive-thru.

But the easing of pandemic restrictions means Agrifair can return almost to normal, although on a scaled-down level.

The event runs July 30 to Aug. 1 with the theme Driving to Entertain You. Gates will be open from 1 to 9 p.m., with limited tickets available each day.

Friday night will feature rising local artists Cambree Lovesy and Kassandra Clack.

Saturday features AC/DC tribute show Live Voltage, and performing on Sunday are multi-award-winning artist Brian Doerksen as well as The Arctic.

Other entertainment highlights of Agrifair include BC DeLorean with some favourite TV and film vehicles, Curbside Circus with their stilt and juggling performances throughout the grounds, and magician Gary Savard.

Also featured are Global FMX flying through the air on their high-powered motocross bikes, Twisters Gym and its athletes, and the Northern Lights Motorsports demolition derby.

All three nights feature an outdoor movie paired with a vehicle from that film. Friday is Jurassic Park, Saturday is Back to the Future, and Sunday is Toy Story 4.

A selection of food trucks will also be on hand throughout the fair.

Other displays and entertainment include Cinemazoo, Laughing Stock Ranch, Brickville, Nordan the Magician, Spady Farms, Canadian Military Display, Langley Museum of Flight, MarkRock On and Lapidary Supplies, and BC Egg.

The usual 4-H displays, barnyard animals and the Fraser Valley Antique Farm Machinery Association will also be on hand.

Tickets are free, but limited numbers are available. Those who had already booked for the drive-thru event can use them towards the in-person fair.

Tickets for the outdoor movies must be booked separately. There will be no in-and-out privileges at this year’s event.
