Canning workshops planned

Mission’s Kitchens is offering a series of five water bath canning workshops through summer and fall.

Learn to can peaches Aug. 13, pickles Aug. 27, plum jam Oct. 1, pears Oct. 15 and, pepper jelly and cranberry sauce Nov. 5.

All workshops run 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, 7756 Grand St. Cost is $35 per workshop. The sessions are hands-on and emphasize safe and up-to-date home canning practices. They include all supplies and equipment. Participants take home a jar of delicious canned goods made in each session.

For those interested in canning tomatoes, a workshop will happen Sept. 10. This pressure canning workshop is $45 and requires prepayment.
