The Big Red Dog and the Big Green Bus are getting ready to riot.
Both Clifford the Big Red Dog and Mission’s Big Green Literacy Bus will be on hand as Mission celebrates Family Literacy Day with the ninth annual Riot of Reading Solutions Family Literacy Fair, Jan. 29 at Ecole Mission Central.
The day-long Riot of Reading Solutions will celebrate the love of reading with free entertainment including the young fiddlers from Jennie Bice’s Prydwen Studios. There will also be plenty of dancing including Mission Indian Friendship Centre drummers and dancers, Bhangra dancers, and the dance and movement stylings of the Wee Wigglers. Norden the Magician and Neon the Clown will keep you laughing while you enjoy free face painting. And, of course, there will be plenty of storytelling including dramatization of folktales by the Caring Club.
More than 20 organizations and businesses will host tables including Mission Literacy in Motion, Usborne Books, Discovery Toys, local preschools, Rotary and public health.
And as with any celebration there will be cake and pizza. Come explore, celebrate reading and maybe even win a door prize.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mission Central is located at 7466 Welton St.
