Celebration of life for Krieck Aug. 16

The well-known Mission volunteer passed away Aug. 12

A celebration of life for Barry Krieck will be held Aug. 16 at the Mission Best Western.

A longtime fixture in the community, Krieck served 30 years in the New Westminster Fire Department and retired as a captain. He spent the following years as a fire warden for the Coastal Fire Centre.

Locally, he served as Mission’s emergency preparedness coordinator and the president of the Mission Speed Skating Club for numerous years. He was also on the board of directors for the BC Speed Skating Association.

Krieck was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2011, and passed away Aug. 12.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Ricky, Jordy and Kristina, brother Blaine and sidekick Anouk.

The celebration starts at 1 p.m.
