Cycling for Diversity starts May 16

Mission’s Ken Herar and a small group of cyclists will be riding through several Lower Mainland communities in May.

This journey is called Cycling for Diversity and will begin May 16th from a high school in Mission and will end May 21 in Victoria.

The UN General Assembly has proclaimed May 21 as World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue in its resolution 57/249. This trek hopes to highlight and celebrate diversity globally, but more specifically in Canada and B.C.

Herar and his team will stop and speak briefly in communities about the importance of diversity and inclusiveness during this six-day trip.

The bike Herar will be riding has been loaned to him by Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop in Mission. Funds are being raised to buy the bike after the journey and provide it for someone who is in need of a good source of transportation. The 14-city, six-day journey from start to finish is approximately 230 km.
