Funds raised this summer during a memorial lacrosse game have been donated to the Mission Hospice Society.

A cheque for $500 was recently donated to the society.

The annual Mikey and Scotty Memorial Lacrosse Game was hosted at the lacrosse box in Centennial Park on Aug. 26.

The event was open to all ages and included a fun day of lacrosse games, food, and a silent auction and raffle fundraiser.

It is held each year to honour two young men who were active in the community as referees, coaches, players and mentors for lacrosse in Mission.

This year was the largest turnout yet, including appearances from some semi-pro and professional lacrosse players from all over.

The Mission Fire Fighters Charitable Society supplied all the water bottles for this event for the day.

After the silent auction and raffles were closed, the event organizers approached the hospice society about making a donation and the importance of keeping it in the community.
