Farmers’ market AGM held at All Saints

Are you interested in farming, but cannot afford to buy land? Are you looking for ideas on how to establish a small-scale vegetable farm? Have you considered a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) program?Amy Suess and Amanda Smith, the owners and operators of Skeeter Farm, will discuss these topics and more at the Mission City Farmers Market Society’s annual general meeting, held March 5 at 11:30 a.m. at All Saints Anglican church. The event is open to the public and the guest speakers take the stage at 1 p.m.Skeeter Farm was started in 2009 by young farmers. The farm produces vegetables, herbs, flowers and some fruits on two and a half acres. Produce from the farm is distributed through farmers’ markets and a CSA program. The farmers use ecologically sensitive farming practices and avoid the use of chemicals. The farm has recently moved to Yarrow and leases land from the Fraser Valley Duck and Goose Farm. For additional information, contact Scott at mission.market@gmail.com or call 604-302-5561.
