The ninth Mission Festival of Trees and Dramatic Reading of Clement Clark Moore's ”Twas the Night Before Christmas”, took place Dec. 10-14 and organizers are calling it a success.
The festival is held to support the Mission Christmas Bureau and the five-day event managed to raise $2,000 in cash donations, and many non-perishable food items, as well as toys and Christmas gifts.
Twenty-six decorated Christmas trees from various, groups, families, churches, businesses, and organizations were distributed through the Christmas Bureau to families/seniors in need, in the Mission community.
Children's activities ran all week with leadership from five students, and five adults, throughout the week. Kids decorated a Christmas tree to be in the festival, they also helped the children make Christmas cards to be given to the folks at The Residence In Mission (TRIM). In total they created over 200 decorated cards.
Santa's Grotto welcomed all family members, including pets, to have their photo's taken with Santa, and one of his helpers.
During the week days, a very popular feature of the event was the homemade Soup-and-a-Bun, offered between 5-7 p.m.
There were 44 volunteers involved, plus the entertainers who performed throughout the event, and in the reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas.
