Illuminaria lights up the park Sept. 15

The annual event happens at Fraser River Heritage Park

Illuminaria returns to light up Fraser River Heritage Park Sept. 15, starting at 6 p.m.

Dance to the R&B tunes of Top City, listed to Boris Sichon’s drumming, get your face painted by Catz Faces, and witness the entertaining fire dancing and fireworks performances that cap the event.

The Mission Association for Community Living (MACL) helped bring the event to life just over a decade ago to celebrate after the last person left one of B.C.’s institutions for developmental disabilities.

Held annually in September, the event is free, fully accessible and family friendly. There will be food and drink vendors on site, and MACL will be offering lanterns for a minimum $2 donation.
