‘Light Up The Nights Christmas Parade’ rolls through Mission

On Friday and Saturday, over 70 decorated vehicles paraded through Mission

Decorated vehicles rolled through Mission on the weekend for the ‘Light Up The Nights Christmas Parade’. On Friday (Dec. 9), 72 vehicles took part in the event with the number jumping to 90 on Saturday (Dec. 10).

The parades started at the Junction Shopping Centre parking lot and proceeded through to Wren Street on the first evening and FreshCo. on the second.

“The showing of the Mission and Hatzic residents that came out waiting and watching for us to come by was just amazing,” parade organizer Clark “Griswold” Jahn said. “As we were driving, I could see two blocks ahead and you could see kids bouncing up and down with joy.”

Jahn founded the parade in 2020 as a way to provide a COVID-safe option for the community after the Mission Candlelight Parade was cancelled. The parade surpassed 200 vehicles in both 2020 and 2021 and Jahn expects the event to continue in the future.
