Mission Community Foundation (MCF) has announced the distribution of $120,470 in grants to support local initiatives and non-profit organizations through its Grant Cycle 2 of 2024.
According to a press release, “these grants are part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Mission.”
The awarded funds will be directed toward a diverse range of projects, with a focus on education, food security, seniors care, community development, environmental sustainability, healthcare, and the arts.
In total, 21 organizations were selected to receive funding, each of which demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing pressing needs within the community.
Mission Community Foundation has two Grant Cycles each year, in the spring and in the fall, and these are made possible by individual donors, local businesses, and other supporters of the Foundation’s mission.
“We would like to take this moment for a big thank you to our benefactors to allow us through their generosity to disperse funds to the Mission community and surrounding areas (FVRD),” said Shelley Carter, board chair. “We now have more asks of this support than we can give. It is an unfortunate trend that so many communities are facing. We have a great committee with board members and community members that have meaningful and very thoughtful discussions on all applications. We are pleased to support the recipients who were successful and know that the funds are supporting so many needs and programs within Mission. We would also like to thank everyone that applied and urge the ones that were not successful to apply again next year.”
