Firefighters from Mission Fire Rescue Services (MFRS) were busy collecting donations this past week. The fire department went door to door on Wednesday and Thursday (Dec.7 and 8) to retrieve cash, food and toy donations to support Mission Community Service Society’s Food Centre and Christmas Bureau.
The MFRS brought in $2,500 in cash, five full-size vans of food, and two car loads of unwrapped toys to give to Mission Community Services. The firefighters collected donations from several Mission neighbourhoods.
“Thank you to all our firefighters from stations one, two and three as well as our dedicated and valued Emergency Support Services members,” MFRS said in a Facebook post. “This displayed generosity is one of many reasons this is a special community filled with caring citizens.”
