Mission group hosts overdose awareness event

A small crowd of supporters braved the rain and cool winds to attend a free community picnic and art making dialogue at Fraser River Heritage Park on Aug. 26.

The Mission Overdose Community Action Team (MOCAT) hosted the event, called Growing Stronger Together

After enjoying some free food, guests were invited to create some floral-themed art work – one of the day’s themes was Flower Power, Growing Stronger Together - share stories and even partake in Naloxone training.

The event is part of an effort to bring more attention to the ongoing overdose crisis.

Aug. 31 in International Overdose Awareness Day.
