The Mission Community Foundation donated over $7,000 for "Sara Stedy" lifts at Mission Memorial Hospital.

Patients at Mission Memorial Hospital will receive more support after a donation from Mission Community Foundation.

Three “Sara Stedy” patient transfer aids were provided to the hospital

“This generous donation underscores the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing patient care and
promoting early mobility initiatives within the community,” a news release reads.

The patient transfer aid is designed to facilitate safe and efficient transfers, while also encouraging patients to engage in their own mobility.

It’s a non-powered device that allows patients to stand independently or with minimal assistance from hospital care teams, significantly improving their confidence and
physical well-being, as well as overall recovery

“Sara Stedys are a valuable piece of equipment that we use daily for supporting our patients to be mobilized and transferred. The Sara Stedy is convenient and quick for one team member to use, and has a strong base providing comfort (and steadiness) to the patient,” Mission Memorial Hospital clinical operations manager Jill McIntosh said.

Meanwhile, Fraser Valley Healthcare Foundation executive director Elizabeth Harris thanked the Community Foundation for funding the equipment.

“The Sara Stedy devices will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care and promoting early mobility, which are essential components of a patient’s
recovery journey,” Harris said

According to the news release, the hospital staff is excited to integrate these aids into their daily routines, knowing the positive impact they will have on patient mobility and safety.
