Mission Secondary School holds Relay For Life, Storm The Wall

Leadership students took part in organizing and hosting the events

Mission Secondary School’s leadership students took part in organizing and hosting Relay For Life, a fundraising movement focused on finding a cure for cancer, on Friday, June 6.

During the event, guest speakers Russell Pattison and Shelley Carter shared their own unique experiences with cancer and how it has profoundly impacted their lives.

In addition to the speeches, attendees had the opportunity to participate in various games and activities. Near the end of the event, everyone got a candle and lit them around the track, then proceeded to do a luminary lap.

In total, $15,000 was raised. The top three fundraisers were Jivan Dhaliwal, Ella Ullrich, and Chloe Emiterio.

During the same day, MSS staff and students also participated in the Storm The Wall triathlon event; swimming, biking, and running.

The path involved three lengths of the pool, biking, and running around Centennial Park twice. Afterwards, participants would climb the wall which was located on the lower MSS field. While some staff and students went with a team, many went solo.
