Mission’s Big Green Library Bus won’t be changing its colour, but it will get a new name.

The Mission Association for Community Living (MACL) and the Sunrise Rotary Club are holding a contest that invites the public to get creative and suggest new names for the bus.

The Big Green Library Bus is a mobile library that offers books, learning resources and other services to people throughout Mission, including Indigenous communities, children and families, and the food bank.

The submitted names should reflect the green bus’s mission and purpose, with the winning entry displayed on the bus. The contest winner will receive a gift basket valued at $500.

“This is an opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself and to make a lasting impact on your community,” the MACL stated in a news release.

“The Big Green Library Bus is an unique and valuable service that relies on the support of individuals and organizations to continue its important work. By participating in this contest, you’ll be helping to promote literacy and education, and making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

The public can enter the contest by sending names along with a brief explanation via email to macl@macl.bc.ca. The submission deadline is April 30.
