Mission’s Hope Central asking for donations for homeless before winter arrives

Items can be dropped off at the New Heights Church, or the Penny Coffee House

Mission’s Hope Central is asking for donations from the community to help the District’s homeless people through the coming winter months.

The group, which is affiliated and operates out of the New Heights Church at 33129 N Railway Ave, is asking for “new or gently used donations.”

They are asking warm generic gloves, hats and socks (wool being better); rain ponchos, winter or waterproof jackets; sleeping bags, sleeping mats and blankets; and umbrellas.

Some items they are running low on are: glow sticks, heat warmer packs. mini first aid kits, thermoses, flashlights (preferably wind up or solar), hand sanitizers, toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorants, hand and face wipes and disposable masks.

Items can be dropped off at the New Heights Church:

Monday - Friday, 7:15 - 9:15 a.m.

Tuesday - Thursday, - 5:15 - 7:15 p.m.

Wed, 7:15 - 10 a.m.

Alternatively, items can be dropped off at the Penny Coffee House:

Monday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Tuesday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Wednesday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5p.m.

Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday, 12 - 4 p.m.
