Mission Literacy in Motion (MLIM) has received a $1,000 grant from the Mission Community Foundation for one of its programs.
The literacy group is best known for its long-time support of adult learners, Reading Buddies library program and more recently, its big green mobile literacy BUS. MLIM also runs Talking and Playing Together, a parenting literacy program for children and adults.
This program was developed to increase knowledge, strengthen confidence and support families in learning parenting skills, as well as support early childhood development. A variety of topics are covered on a weekly basis with parents while at the same time their children explore, socialize and play in an enriched learning environment.
Foundation funds will be also be used to purchase adult and children’s educational literacy resources. For more information, contact community literacy outreach coordinator Tannis Sullivan at 604-557-7614 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
