New perinatal program offered at Mission UFV

Douglas College is bringing its perinatal program to Mission. The first class will take place on Thursday, Feb. 24 at the local UFV campus.

Eight couples have already signed up for the program, said Kathie Lindstrom, program manager.

The Douglas curriculum is used throughout B.C. and Canada and all instructors are certified by Lamaze International and incorporate their dedication, belief and trust in normal birth and healthy birth practices, said Lindstrom.

The classes are currently offered six days a week in 14 locations around the region.

“We’ve been trying for quite some time to get out into the Valley. It’s a great opportunity for Mission and for us,” said Lindstrom.
