Nominations are now being accepted for the annual  Paths & Pathfinders: Women of Mission program.

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual  Paths & Pathfinders: Women of Mission program.

Since 1996, the Mission Community Archives has publicly recognized women from diverse backgrounds for their unique contributions to the community.

To date, 116 women have been honoured.

Held in October, the annual Celebration of Women recognizes the infinite ways women shape and strengthen our community either through their service to it and/or as an initiator, an innovator, an educator, a sustainer (i.e., one who provides continuous support), and an achiever in their particular field of endeavour.

Polly Vishloff, an advocate of her Doukhobor heritage and resident of Mission for over 60 years, who was recognized in 2004, stated.  “One thing I like about the program is that it recognizes women of different backgrounds which is what our community is made of.”

Nominations for this year’s event by the Community Archives are open until Sunday, April 30. Women eligible for nomination must have or presently reside in the City of Mission, Hatzic Prairie, Hatzic Island, Dewdney, Deroche, Nicomen Island, Lake Errock and/or McConnell Creek.

The nominator must submit on two pages or less, biographical information about the nominee,  including her length of residence in the community, field of endeavour and personal attributes; and two letters of support for the nominee from family, friends, associates, etc.

Nomination forms (online or downloadable PDF) are available on the Archives website @missionarchives.com.
