Mission’s annual Diwali celebration returned to the Clarke Theatre on Friday (Nov. 10).
The free, cultural event was open to the public.
Mission’s Diwali is adapted from, and closely follows the most popular festival celebrated in India. Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
This year’s festival featured classical and folk Indian dances, plus other musical and dance entertainment along with a buffet meal, local vendors and non-profits, a henna booth, face painting, hands-on activities and more.
The festival has been organized by Satti Grewal and the Mission Punj-Aab Cultural Club.
