PHOTOS: Thousands join winter celebration downtown Abbotsford

Tree lighting, live music and more in the downtown core to kick-off Christmas season

Organizers estimate that about 10,000 people came out to enjoy the 34th Winter Jubilee festivities in historic Downtown Abbotsford Saturday.

The free event included the lighting of the 60-foot Christmas tree, which will light up in different patterns throughout the day now until the end of the Christmas holidays.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the Grinch were all on hand for photos, as was a life-sized snow globe that people could go inside.

There was live music, plus roaming carollers, and plenty of holiday-themed vendors and activities for children.

The all-ages Winter Jubilee has attracted thousands of people over three decades.

Next up for the downtown is the Winter Sip ‘n Shop, which runs from Nov. 30 to Dec. 14, featuring festive cocktails, music-filled sidewalks, branded shopping totes, shopping and dining specials, and a chance to win 500 Historic Downtown Abbotsford dollars.
