Purina Walk for Dog Guides in Mission May 29

Leash up man’s best friend and help a local service club raise money for care aid dogs.

The Cedar Valley Lions Club (CVLC) is partnering with the Lions Foundation of Canada for the Purina Walk for Dog Guides May 29.

The event is held in 200 communities nationally and the funds raised pay for assistance dogs for those in need, said Ken Westwood, CVLC president.

This is the first time a walk has been held in Mission, and local dog owners are encouraged to get a pledge sheet from local veterinarians, pet stores and dog grooming shops.

The walk leaves from the Centennial Park parking lot on the Grand Street side at 1 p.m., with Mission Coun. Jenny Stevens leading the way.

Fitness leaders from the Leisure Centre will be on hand to warm everyone up, and the Matsqui Flyball Club is putting on a show. There will also be gourmet dog biscuits, entertainment, and prizes for the best human/dog look-alike, best trick, best dressed dog and human.
