Trivia night raises funds for scholarships

There’s nothing trivial about graduation, and Mission Sunrise Rotary Club is calling on all trivia buffs to help them increase the coffers for its student scholarship fund.

Join Rotarians and friends at Cedarbrooke Chateau May 6 for a fun-filled evening of trivia, food, prizes and fellowship, all starting at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised will go to scholarships for Mission graduates pursuing a post secondary education.

Mission Rotary Clubs donate thousands of dollars annually to graduating students, but there are a large number of continuing students who are struggling to pay the costs of education.

There are numerous scholarships for recent graduates, but funds for those continuing on into second and subsequent years of education have few scholarship options, says Mission Community Foundation chair, Shelley Clarkson. Creating a fund for those students is the next scholarship goal of the club.

This is a chance to come out, have a fun evening and contribute to students pursuing education and careers. Collect a team, or come and join another team May 6 and test your knowledge of sports, books, literature and general surprise categories.

Tickets are available at Murdoch’s Book Shoppe, from Mission Sunrise Rotary members or by calling 604-826-0661.
