Vancouver Sun Run training starts at Leisure Centre

Running and walking clinic starts this Sunday, Jan. 26

SportMedBC, in partnership with the Vancouver Sun, is coordinating training clinics at more than 65 recreation and fitness centres throughout the province for everyone interested in participating in the 2014 event.

Starting on Jan. 26, a clinic will take place at the Mission Leisure Centre each week for 13 weeks up to the Vancouver Sun Run on April 27, 2014.

The clinics will cater to walkers and runners of all abilities. Using a graduated training program, people who take part in the clinics will be guided through the basics of starting an exercise program through to increasing their fitness level gradually and safely in order to cope comfortably with tackling the 10 km distance in Canada's largest running event.

Education topics covered in each of the clinics will include footwear, clothing, nutrition, hydration, injury prevention and cross training.

Registration for the clinics is $139 plus GST and includes entry to the Vancouver Sun Run and commemorative T-shirt, 13-week training program, "InTraining” technical training shirt, logbook, group support, expert advice.
