VIDEO AND PHOTOS: Paper Bag Pageant performed at Mission’s St. Andrews United Church

Paper bags containing costumes were handed out to create a community production for Christmas

St. Andrews United Church in Mission held its fourth Sunday of Advent and a Paper Bag Pageant on Dec 23.

The paper bag pageant had costumes of figures prominent in the story of the birth of Jesus in unmarked paper bags and distributed throughout the congregation.

The recipients then must don the costume, and step up to the stage when the narrators of the story calls for their participation, and play the part assigned their costume.

No one knows who they will be until they open their bag.
