The Mission Christmas Bureau and Food Centre relies heavily on the community coming together and for generous donations during Christmas.

This year has been a difficult year with several key fundraising events being cancelled, including the soft opening of the Christmas Bureau storefront, due to the ongoing pandemic.

Although the opening was not in person, encouraging virtual words were received from a few community dignitaries.

The Christmas Bureau will run from Dec. 7-18. The bureau’s Wish Campaign has a long way to go to reach the $110,000 fundraising goal. This year the needs within the community are greater than ever.

The bureau and Food Centre are seeing new applicants and families in need because of the effects of COVID-19.

The support of the Mission community is more important than ever in ensuring Christmas will be possible for local families and children.

The organizations are looking to the community to give generously to lift those community members up this year, so they too can have a Merry Christmas.

With the ongoing pandemic, monetary donations may be the best way forward. Additionally, gift cards for teens remain a great need.

You can assist by donating online at missioncommunityservices.com or by texting Give to 604-359-5620.

Donations of cash, cheques, unwrapped gifts and food can also be dropped off at the Mission Christmas Bureau, located at unit 142 - 32555 London Avenue, Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
