Barney Bentall makes a special guest appearance on Friday, July 21 at the Mission Folk Music Festival’s Community Night commemorating Mission’s 125th birthday.

The festival is celebrating a landmark 30 years of music in Fraser River Heritage Park from July 21 to 23.

Famous for his multi-award winning, platinum-record-selling work with Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts, he is immersed in numerous projects, including the bluegrass outfit The High Bar Gang (a Canadian Folk Music Award winner) and BTU with Tom Taylor and Shari Ulrich.

His cowboy review band, The Cariboo Express, has raised nearly $500,000 in donations for various charities in Western Canada.

Bentall will be performing in Mission with his quartet, composed of multi-instrumentalist Eric Reed, Kirby Barber on bass and Geoff Hicks on drums. Expect legendary classic favourites mixed with new songs from Bentall’s latest album.

Rounding out the night are Mission’s own John Welsh Band, The Boom Booms and more for a high-energy ignition to the 30th anniversary weekend. Entrance to the Friday concert will once again be pay-what-you-can admission.

The full lineup can be found at missionfolkmusicfestival.ca.
