Country star Maren Morris to play Abbotsford Centre

Local concert one of only three in Canada for Grammy winner

Grammy-winning country artist Maren Morris will make a stop in Abbotsford in September as part of her latest tour.

The concert takes place Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at Abbotsford Centre with supporting acts James Arthur and Ryan Hurd.

Morris’s RSVP: The Tour kicks off in June, following her headlining appearance at the Houston Rodeo on March 7, her biggest show to date.

Her Abbotsford show is one of only three stops in Canada. The others are in Calgary on July 10 and Montreal on Sept. 25.

Last week marked the second consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for Maren’s song The Bones, making it the first solo female back-to-back No. 1 since 2012 and her fourth No. 1 single to date.

It also marks the first solo female Billboard country No. 1 since her single GIRL topped the chart last summer.

In addition, Morris recently appeared on the 50th season of Sesame Street in an episode titled Let’s Draw.

Last year was monumental for the singer-songwriter, who took home Album of the Year at the 53rd Annual Country Music Association Awards, where she was the most-nominated artist.

Morris also won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance in 2016 for her debut single My Church.

Tickets for the Abbotsford show go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.ca. Prices range from $36.25 to $65 (plus service charges).
