The winner of Mission’s Got Talent youth category on Canada Day will soon be headed to the PNE Star Showdown competition.

Annika Kraakman, 14, is a Hatzic Secondary School student who has had no formal vocal training, but loves to sing and her natural talent shines through.

She performs Aug. 20 at 1:30 p.m. on the West Jet Concert stage at the PNE. She will be singing I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James.

Kraakman made it to the semifinals against hundreds of other competitors from around the province in her age group. She will be competing against 12 semi-finalists in her age group.

The contest runs from Aug. 20 to 23. The first day features the youth competition; the second day is kids; and the third day have the adult performances.

The top three out of  each of these groups advance to the finals on Aug. 23.

Last year Kraakman made it to the finals of the BC Junior Talent search.

The PNE Star Showdown is a province-wide talent search showcasing the hottest performers from around the province.
