The Mission Arts Council is proud to be showcasing one of its own for a solo exhibition in the Rock Family Gallery.
Teri Phaneuf is the weekend gallery attendant at the Mission Arts Centre. Phaneuf is also an accomplished painter, and will have a solo exhibition this summer.
During 2020 and 2021, while many people were confined to their homes due to the global pandemic, Phaneuf let her creativity help her fill the time. She spent much of that time in her art room creating what would become her exhibition, Pastel Explosion – this is what happens during isolation.
She works in many mediums, including oils, acrylics and watercolours, but in this exhibition she focuses on her love of pastels.
While this is Phaneuf’s solo exhibition, she is also a member of the Mission Artists Association, and has exhibited her work in several group shows at various locations.
“I cannot imagine not having art in my life, and I love to share this passion as much as I love learning and growing from other artists,” said Phaneuf.
“I have always been inspired by the beauty and miracles of nature, and try to capture a portion in my work.”
She goes on to say, “Art has given me so much joy and purpose. I’m never bored because I can just come into my art room and lose myself in my painting. I’m really grateful to have this talent and all my fabulous pastels, watercolors and tools that I need to create beauty in a painting.”
Phaneuf’s exhibition runs in the Rock Family Gallery at the Mission Arts Centre from July 26 to Aug. 13, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 30, from 1 – 4 p.m.
