Local indie rockers Western Jaguar are celebrating the release of their new album, Memorial, next Friday (July 28) in Mission.

Western Jaguar began in 2013 as the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Jeffrey Trainor.

Over the years, Trainor’s lone endeavour expanded to include Kier-Christer Junos (guitar/vocals), Ryan Domingo (bass) and AJ Buckley (drums/vocals).

Taking influence from artists such as Built to Spill and Neil Young, Western Jaguar combines elements of indie rock, dream pop and post-rock to create a stirring union of reverb drenched guitars, pulsating bass and bruising percussion.

Western Jaguar’s energetic live performances have been featured at local events such as Jam in Jubilee and the Envision Concert Series. Additionally, Western Jaguar were nominated for a 2016 Fraser Valley Music Award and were the winners of CIVL Radio’s Battle of the Bands competition in 2015.

The concert takes place at The Stage, 32998 1st Avenue in downtown Mission.

Tickets for the show are by donation and will be available at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the music beginning at 9 p.m.
