Mission Folk Fest receives $48K from federal government

Money will be provided over two years to help with the annual event

The federal government is giving the Mission Folk Music Festival Society $48,000 over two years to help fund the annual show.

The money was announced Friday afternoon, by local MP Randy Kamp, and will come from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund through the Department of Canadian Heritage.

This year's festival, expected to draw approximately 7,000 people, will run July 19-22 at Fraser River Heritage Park. There will be more than 40 performances spanning a range of musical genres. Other activities include a music camp and interactive workshop for musicians.
