Award-winning Mission performer Mahara Sinclaire is set to appear as Elaine Wheeler in the Surrey Little Theatre’s production of the psychological thriller Night Watch.

Sinclaire, who has lent her talents to other local theatre companies, is a winner of a Community Theatre Coalition (CTC) award for Outstanding Actress – for Ghosts in 2016 with the Langley Players – and for Best Ensemble for the play Dixie Swim Club in 2016 with the Surrey Little Theatre.

Her current venture, Night Watch, with Surrey Little Theatre opens on Jan. 24. It is a thriller with a comedic vibe and was written by Lucille Fletcher and is directed by Lance Peverley.

“There are two types of stories that give me chills,” said Peverley, “those shared by cinematic master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock, and those presented with a twist by Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling.”

“Fletcher’s play tells the story of a woman who once suffered a nervous breakdown following the death of her first husband, and who seems haunted still, particularly when her report of a murder victim across from her upscale home is so quickly dismissed by investigators. But whether she actually spotted a dead man, or whether she’s the victim of extreme gaslighting, won’t be revealed until the final seconds of this taut, tense mystery.”

Night Watch can be seen at Surrey Little Theatre, located at 7027 184th Street, from Jan. 24 to Feb. 23 – Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 p.m., with three Sunday matinees: February 3, 10, and 17 at 2 p.m.
