Opening Nite Theatre Society brings the southern comedy Dearly Departed by Jessie Jones and David Bottrell to stage this month as the first show in its 2013/2014 season.
Directed by Dudley Cox, this is the hilarious yet poignant tale of a southern family who have to come to grips with the sudden death of their patriarch, Bud Turpin.
Remembered fondly by some, and not-so-fondly by others, Bud leaves behind a family wrestling with guilt, anger, turmoil and dissatisfaction.
Dearly Departed runs Oct. 18-20, 24-27 and Nov. 1-3. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15, and available online at openingnitetheatresociety.tripod.com, at 604-826-ONTS (6687) or at the door.
