Tickets for Golden Idol now on sale

It’s time to get your tickets for the fourth annual Golden Idol Talent Contest, taking place at Cedarbrooke Chateau on Seventh Avenue, Feb. 25.

Opening Nite Theatre organizes this event each year and donates the funds raised to seniors’ organizations. The Golden Idol is more than a talent contest, it is a way to celebrate life and to showcase the vital and talented seniors that make up our community.

This year, funds raised will be donated to Mission Association for Seniors’ Housing (MASH). Among the projects sponsored by this group are The Cedars Assisted Living, Pleasant View Care Home, Pleasant View Apartments, and Welton Towers.

Judging the contest this year will be Mayor James Atebe, actor/director Gerwyn Mills, the winner of last year’s Golden Idol contest, Bud Webb, musician Jennie Bice, and Valerie Hundert, Mission’s Ambassador for the Arts.

The winner of the contest will receive a trophy, as do the second and third runners up. If you would like to enter the contest you must be 60 years or older. You can register by phoning 604-820-8622 or by coming to the Cedarbrooke Chateau on Monday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.

Tickets to the event are $12 and available at the Chateau. The doors open at 7 and the performance starts at 8 p.m.
