Goalie Ty Young has been called up from the ECHL's Kalamzaoo Wings to Abbotsford.

Goalie Ty Young has been called up from the Kalamazoo Wings to the Abbotsford Canucks.

The club made the announcement that the Vancouver Canucks 2022 fifth round draft pick will join the AHL team on Thursday (Nov. 7).

Young has made two ECHL appearances this season and has a record of 1-1-0, a save percentage of .974 and a goals against average of 1.01.

The 20-year-old spent the previous three seasons with the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.

Young's call-up was made necessary after Abbotsford goalie Jiri Patera suffered an apparent injury in the first period of yesterday's (Nov. 6) game against the Ontario Reign.

Starting goalie Nikita Tolopilo allowed four goals in 12:54 in the first period and was pulled for Patera. However, after just over five minutes of action, Patera was forced to leave the game due to injury. No update has been provided yet of his status or the injury he suffered.

The Canucks ended up losing 8-4 to Ontario in yesterday's game. Abbotsford has now allowed 39 goals in 10 games, which ranks them as the fourth highest in the AHL.

The team returns to the Abbotsford Centre for games against the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday (Nov. 9) and Sunday (Nov. 10).
