The Mission Friends of the Library recently donated $1,000 towards the purchase of new board books.

This donation was made possible through a grant from the District of Mission and enhances the children’s book collection at the Mission Library.

Board books are designed for parents to share with their young children. Many board books are specially designed to appeal to babies and their developing brains.

Babies enjoy looking at simple pictures with high contrast colours or black and white images. They also especially enjoy looking at photos of other babies and faces.

These new board books, along with the rest of the large collection of children’s books at the Mission Library, are for families to enjoy with the 1,000 Stories Before Kindergarten program.

This program is for children before they enter Kindergarten and families can sign up for a reading log at the Mission Library.

Family programming continues to grow in popularity at the local library, with storytimes running every Wednesday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. and other fun programs like Baby Play Dates.
