Despite the recent break in, the Mission branch of the Canadian Cancer Society raised about $5,000 at the annual event.

The Mission branch of the Canadian Cancer Society held its annual fundraiser the Robbie Burns’ Supper and Dance.

The fundraiser took place on Jan. 23 at Chartwell Cedarbrooke in Mission.

The event raised close to $5,000. Organizers are pleased with the amount, considering the society was broken into last week and several items, donated for the silent auction, were stolen.

Jimmy Logan, president of the Mission branch, said the public has been “fantastic” as donations of money and services have poured in since the incident.
