A woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a collision on Lougheed Highway on Oct. 13.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night (Oct. 13) for public mischief and failing to stop after an accident.

According to a Mission RCMP news release, police found a woman pinned behind the steering wheel of a blue Dodge Caravan on Lougheed Highway and Nelson Street.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A passerby noticed the van with damage that indicated it was in a serious collision shortly before 10 p.m.

Police say the vehicle was reportedly struck by a left-turning Ford pickup that fled the scene.

A matching pickup was discovered abandoned nearby near Nelson Street and Silverdale Avenue.  Officers also found the owner of the pickup walking away from the truck and he was subsequently arrested.

An investigation is ongoing and witnesses are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
