Three men were arrested after a break-and-enter at a Mission residence on Wednesday (March 6).
RCMP say the break-in occurred on the 7200 block of Wren Street at 12:30 a.m. No one was home at the time.
Police arrived minutes after the three men — aged 18, 22 and 25 — entered the residence. The trio allegedly fled down a nearby street and hid in some bushes.
Mission RCMP officers contained the area until a police dog arrived and found the men hiding. One of the suspects slid down an embankment while trying to get away, police say. Mission Fire and Rescue Service also provided a ladder to help access the embankment where the suspect was stuck.
According to Mission RCMP, the three men are known to police. They now face charges, including breaking and entering.
A visible police presence continued at the residence throughout Wednesday while a forensics specialist examined the scene. Mounties are also seeking information about an older black Ford F-350 pickup that could have been spotted in the area at the time of the break-in.
“This was a targeted incident, and there is no indication that anyone else was at risk,” Mission RCMP Cpl. Harrison Mohr said. “The homeowner’s effective alarm system and quality CCTV footage helped us to quickly identify these intruders, which led to them being arrested while they were still in the area. This is a good reminder for any homeowners that do have a CCTV system to familiarize themselves with how to access the footage, as time is of the essence when responding to an incident in progress.”
