A home intruder in Mission last week nabbed a phone, truck keys and later a truck, police say.
According to Mission RCMP’s weekly “Community Connection” crime recap, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for possession of stolen property and breaching her court conditions in relation to the incident.
The detachment says the woman, who is “well-known” to police, entered a house on Blott Street through an unlocked door overnight on April 4/5.
Police say the stolen keys were used to take the homeowner’s pickup truck out of the driveway later in the day.
“Mission RCMP were able to track the truck to a property on Hayward Street, where a [woman] was found in the driver’s seat,” police said.
The intrusion was among the detachment’s calls for service between March 31 and April 6.
Officers responded to another theft on April 2, this time from a downtown thrift store.
Police say a man stole a “bunch of clothing” and was arrested 15 minutes later after patrols of the area.
The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
Meanwhile, on Monday (March 31), police were called to Mission Memorial Hospital after a man showed up with shotgun round fragments in his legs.
“The man stated that he had been out doing recreational shooting with friends on a forest service road in the Chilliwack area earlier that day, but did not notice the fragments in his legs until after he left,” Mission RCMP said.
No medical intervention was needed since the fragments were small, but police told the man that the group was shooting in an area closed to it.
“Mission RCMP remind anyone looking to do recreational shooting in the backcountry to first confirm whether they are permitted to do so in the area they will be in, and to also use proper gun-safety practises at all times,” the detachment said.
A 28-year-old Mission man was also issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound last week after failing roadside screening tests.
RCMP were informed of a possible impaired driver swerving in a blue 2013 Ford Mustang from Abbotsford to Mission.
Mounties stopped the car on Cedar Street, finding the driver had a strong odour of liquor on his breath and displayed other symptoms of being impaired by liquor.
