Four people are displaced after a house fire on Silverdale Avenue in Mission on Tuesday night (Jan. 30).
Mission Fire Rescue Service (MFRS) responded to the call just after 11 p.m. from all three halls.
A fire investigation will take place this afternoon (Jan. 31) but MFRS says it appears the blaze started within a dishwasher.
“The fire spread into the ceiling space above and it took some time to overhaul,” MFRS assistant chief of fire prevention Ian Glasgow said. “Fire extinguishment happened very rapidly but when it got into the ceiling it took some time to complete overhaul operations.”
Four fire apparatus were needed to respond while firefighters from Maple Ridge were dispatched and arrived on the scene but weren’t required.
The house suffered smoke, fire and water damage in the dishwasher area, the ceiling and the siding.
No one was injured in the fire. Emergency support services are aiding the four displaced residents with the next steps.
Gas and electrical services have been disconnected to the building and a private security company is on the scene Wednesday.
