UPDATE: Cyclist struck on Lougheed Hwy. in Agassiz

Crash happened near the Ruby Creek Forest Service Road, traffic blocked as a result

A cyclist was struck on Lougheed Highway in Agassiz on Saturday.

The crash happened in the 12000 block of the highway, near the Ruby Creek Forest Service Road around 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 11.

According to crews on scene, the man was conscious and talking but had multiple injuries.

An Air Ambulance was initially dispatched to the site and firefighters set up a landing zone on the highway, but about half an hour later the helicopter was cancelled.

Traffic was blocked as a result. By 4 p.m. that section of Lougheed Highway was open again.

BC Ambulance Service, RCMP and the Agassiz Fire Department were all called to the scene.
