A domestic assault on Wren Street and a weapons call on Silverdale Avenue both drew a large police presence on Sunday (April 27).
Mission RCMP said in a news release that both incidents ended peacefully with a pair of arrests.
A 53-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, after allegedly pointing a compound bow at a neighbour on Silverdale Avenue.
Police responded to the weapons call east of Gaglardi Street at approximately 2:30 p.m.
According to the news release, officers used a megaphone to call out to the man and he came out briefly but returned inside.
"Due to the suspect’s behaviour and reported possession of the loaded compound bow, Mission RCMP surrounded the property and requested resources from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, including a crisis negotiator," RCMP said.
Police say the man agreed to leave the residence an hour later and was taken into custody. The property was searched later that night after RCMP obtained a search warrant.
The 53-year-old is also facing a charge for failing to comply with the conditions of an Undertaking issued to him as a result of a previous weapons-related incident in June of last year.
Meanwhile, Mounties were called to the 7300 block of Wren Street at 6 p.m. the same night for a reported domestic assault.
A 33-year-old man barricaded himself inside with a large kitchen knife after briefly leaving the residence.
The crisis negotiator and Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team were requested by local RCMP again. Police say Wren Street was closed to traffic during the duration of the incident, for the safety of the public.
The man surrendered roughly an hour and a half later.
RCMP are recommending charges including assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose against the 33-year-old.
