Impaired driver crashes through Mission barricade, into ditch

Driver issued 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound

An impaired driver from Surrey drove through barricades and into the ditch on Lougheed Highway in Mission last weekend (Sept. 28).

Mission RCMP were called to the area near Silverdale Avenue at 4:30 a.m. after a white Mercedes went off the road and landed in the ditch.  

Police say the driver, a 33-year-old man from Surrey, exhibited signs of being impaired by liquor.  

He failed two roadside screening device tests before police issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound.
